Born in Manchester 1945 Geoff Smith studied graphic design at Mid Cheshire College of art. Although he had a successful career outside the art world he continued showing his work at various galleries around Manchester and Cheshire. Since retiring from business in 2001 he has painted full-time in the Lake District but recently moved to live in York.



A landscape artist working mainly in oils he is inspired by light and atmosphere, especially the effects on water, with his favourite subjects being seascapes, harbours, rivers, and locations Venice, Provence, London and Cornwall. His work has sold in galleries throughout the UK and America. Past Exhibitions: Cumbria Open Art 2004, Life in Eden 2005, Lake Artists Society 2006 Summer Exhibition and short-listed for Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2006.
