The gallery is just beneath the
ancient castle walls of Cockermouth, a bustling market town on the
Northern fringe of the Lake District with Crummock Water , Derwent
Water and Bassenthwaite Lake nearby. Just behind the gallery is
Jennings Brewery. Unfortunately due to the grade 2 star Listing
of the building there is no easy access for the disabled.
From the M6 the simplest
approach to Cockermouth is to follow the A66 signposted to Keswick
and Workington. Turn into town at the roundabout . Upon reaching
the Main Street, turn right and drive past the statue of Lord Mayo
and Percy House Gallery is on the left just over the bridge over
the River Cocker. The Market Place opens up on the right, with parking
down the side street on the right. If you scroll down this page
the Google map shows the location as a blue pointer.
Among hotel options in the centre of town are the Trout Hotel, Manor
Court and Allerdale Court Hotel in Cockermouth. For other accommodation
options check out www.cockermouth.org.uk
For extra information on the
locality check out Lakestay
